Hiring a nanny to help with sleep – either yours or your baby’.s. Finding a reliable nanny is a primary concern for working mothers in the United States.

As per the U.S. Census Bureau, there are 5.6 million working moms in the United States, and around 51 percent of women who gave birth to their first child returned to work within four months.
In record numbers, families are turning to nannies as a solution for their childcare needs. As well as their sleeping needs.

Hiring a nanny is a serious commitment, and many U.S. parents use a mutual “nanny contract” to lay out clearly the terms and conditions of employment before the hiring process is complete.

One of the biggest causes of nanny turnover tends to be parents who make unexpected, and, for the nanny, unreasonable requests in the form of extra hours or chores. On the other hand, parents are often dissatisfied with nannies who ask to invite overnight guests, make long distance phone calls, and want to use the nanny car for personal errands.

Good communication is the most important part of the parent-nanny relationship. Parents and nannies who communicate well provide a nurturing environment for the children together, which is, after all, the point of hiring a nanny to begin with. A detailed and mutually satisfying contract is the first necessary step towards making this relationship work.

A functional nanny contract contains a detailed statement outlining the nanny’s responsibilities and goals for the children’s growth and progress. It should state the nanny’s salary and pay dates, along with any deductions for applicable taxes, social security, and health insurance.
Some other issues you may find in a nanny contract are:

• Overnight care-how often it is expected, and what additional pay will be provided per hour.
• A detailed travel schedule for the year that includes when the nanny is expected to leave town with the family, what provisions will be made for the nanny’s comfort while traveling, how many hours of work will be necessary while out of town, and what additional pay will be provided.
• An agreement concerning the nanny’s mealtimes, and what food items will be provided for the nanny in accordance with his or her dietary needs.
• An agreement concerning the children’s dietary needs and what meals the nanny is expected to prepare.
• Rules for use of the nanny car, including provisions for automobile insurance.
• A schedule of regular meetings between the parents and the nanny to encourage ongoing communication.
• How sick days will be handled.
• How many vacation days the nanny will get after an agreed on period of work.

A detailed, comprehensive nanny contract is especially important if the nanny is hired on a live-in basis. A fair contract will ensure that everyone concerned gets the most out of the loving care a nanny provides to the children.

And a good nanny, who either lives in or stays over night occasionally, will be well worth the money, so that everyone in the family gets nights of good quality sleep.

Many people have problems with their sleep especially in the rushed world of today. People hardly stick to routines that encourage them to fall asleep easily, depriving of the rest they need. You can use the following natural sleep aids to help you sleep better.

Avoid caffeine: Stop having a cup of coffee a couple of hours before retiring for the night. Those suffering from insomnia should stop taking caffeine completely. Read labels and look for caffeine in soda, chocolates, and over-the-counter medicines as well.

Importance of darkness and light: As you get up in the morning, you brain should receive a signal from the sunlight that another day has just started. This maintains the health of the body’s natural signaling system. Similarly at night, make your room as dark as possible by turning off all lights.

Don’t use the bed for other activities except sleeping: Of the two most important things to be done on the bed, sleeping is number one in terms of importance. You should avoid reading or watching TV on the bed. Instead, use other rooms for these purposes. If you retain the main purpose of the bed, you would automatically feel like sleeping when you get into it.

Do not stay in bed awake: We talk about the bed earlier. So here is how you doze off. If you find it hard to fall asleep, don’t waste your time tossing and turning for hours on the bed. A better idea is to get up and do something which you like to do. Don’t think anymore about sleeping. Strange enough, you will feel like dozzing off afterwards.

Exercise wisely: Exercise is an effective method to conquer insomnia. Without it, the body may not feel the need to relax at all. Exercise everyday is good for your health. But doing it before bedtime would not help you to sleep easily. This acts as a stimulus for the nerves. Your heart beat increases. Both of which are not conducive to get you to sleep.

Avoid sweets at bedtime: Sweets give you energy which you don’t need when you want to sleep. It may appear that this would encourage deep sleep, but when blood sugar levels recede soon afterwards, sleep is disturbed.

Eat tryptophan foods: Tryptophan foods are amino acids. They promote the production of serotonin which later transforms into melotonin. Melatonin can help you to sleep. One of the rich sources of melatonin is milk.

Learn how to relax:Relaxation techniques for sleep: Some of the relaxation techniques can encourage better sleep. It only takes about 20 minutes to do the exercises before going to bed which includes progressive muscle relaxation and visualization. There are various insomnia aid tapes and CDs, which have helped many sleep-deprived victims. All of us need some effective natural sleep remedies every now and then. Changing the ways you do things every day can deprive of the sleep you need every night. It only takes a couple of minutes to analyse your habit and come up with better lifestyle choices.

In this article, we’ll review some tips on helping a person fall asleep. How long does it take for a given person to fall asleep? That might depend on a number of factors, including what the person ate before they went to bed, how tired the person is, and numerous other factors. If you have sleep problems, it could take what seems like hours to fall asleep.

Insomnia Information: Insomnia means you are having a great struggle to go to sleep. It also can mean that staying asleep is difficult. Most people who struggle with insomnia say that they remember turning and tossing all night long or remember being awake at night. Nights when I have insomnia I just can’t seem to turn my mind off and often can’t even close my eyes. Normally it takes me about a half hour to fall asleep; but my son is asleep as soon as his head hits the pillow.

The TV helps me fall asleep — I have it on a timer and it shuts off after 30 minutes.I also require total darkness, and my bedroom must be ice cold – even in summer. Of course, this does not help save energy!

There are treatments for insomnia referred to as natural, or behavioral. One relaxation techniques is practiced by tensing different muscle groups and then relaxing them. Another method is repeating a set of visualizations to produce a state of relaxation. My favorite visualization? Lying in the sun on a beach in the Bahamas.

It is also good to be able to manage the stress in your life, as this will allow you to more easily relax at night and when it’s time to go to sleep. Another helpful method is to associate the bedroom with sleeping and only sleeping, by limiting the time spent in the bedroom for non-sleep activities. So take your TV, office, and computer out of the bedroom. Also reduce the use of stimulants such as caffeine and avoid large meals just before bed as this can help reduce insomnia. One can also try soaking in a hot bath to relax, or listening to soft music before going to bed.

Melatonin is a sleep aid. It is especially helpful for people who suffer from insomnia caused by jet lag or shift work. Melatonin occurs naturally in the body when serotonin is exposed to a lowered quantity of light.

Other common over-the-counter sleep aids such as Sominex or Nytol can also be tried by adults but, again, a person should discuss with their doctor before taking any of these sleep aids especially if you suffer from Parkinson’s disease, or are being treated for depression or other mental health problems. But it is also buying into the mindset of turning to a pill to solve a problem, which can give rise to problems in other areas of a person’s life. More insomnia info at bestinsomnia blog and how to stay asleep during the night.

It is advised that if you have trouble falling asleep and have tried all the natural tips in this article, then perhaps you should see a sleep therapy specialist. So many people have sleep complications, there is now a sub-specialty in medicine for such problems. Since insomnia might be a symptom of other medical problems, it is best to get a consultation with your doctor and discuss your sleeping problems with him.

Even with all the tips on falling asleep, each person must discover their own best way to fall asleep.

If you eat well and exercise regularly, yet still frequently feel tired, then the quality of your sleep may be to blame. Millions of people in the United States suffer from sleep disorders but don’t realize that they have the condition. In many cases, sleep medicine isn’t enough to treat their illness. Some sleep disorders need to be treated by a recognized sleep disorder center, but how can you tell if a bout of insomnia is really a symptom of something more problematic? In this article, we’ll uncover the facts about sleep disorders and the symptoms.

There are over one hundred different types of sleep disorders that can be classified into four categories. Insomnias include difficulty falling and staying asleep. Narcolepsy and sleep apnea are examples of sleep disorders that prevent people from staying awake. People suffering from jet lag or those who have trouble sleeping because of shift work are having a disturbance in their sleep/wake cycle. People who experience sleepwalking or enuresis are experiencing sleep interruptions associated with behavioral problems. Any condition in which your sleep doesn’t follow the typical sleep phase cycle or doesn’t stay in each cycle for a sufficient period of time is a disruptive sleep disorder.

Those who have disrupted sleep tend to not experience “restorative sleep.” Sleep deprivation can make you irritable, tired, have less focus, a lower frustration level, and can lead to exhibiting behavior that’s more emotional and impulsive. One dangerous fact about sleeping disorders is that they weaken the immune system and make us more susceptible to other diseases like diabetes, cancer and even the common cold. It is not uncommon for people who suffer from sleep deprivation due to sleep disorders such as sleep apnea, narcolepsy and insomnia to also suffer from other problems including diabetes, asthma or a second sleep disorder.

For parents, speaking with your health care provider about sleep disorders is a good idea if you believe your child is experiencing symptoms, because people can begin suffering while still in childhood. If your child regularly suffers from nightmares, night terrors and bedwetting, then a sleep disorder clinic may be able to give you advice on how to control the symptoms. The elderly also regularly suffer from insomnia and tend to wake often. This is attributed to numerous psychological and medical conditions. Physiological problems can be a major contributor to sleeplessness. Women, who tend to suffer from sleep disorders more frequently than men, often experience an increase in their symptoms during pregnancy and menopause.

If you’re concerned about sleep disorders, then the first person you should speak to is your doctor. He can assess your condition and recommend either sleep medicine or refer you to a sleep specialist. A lack of sleep can seriously impact your quality of life, so wake up the treatments available and get a good night of rest.

Sleep is certainly essential for the human body to function properly. The Lack of sleep can begin hurting day to day functions and a persons thought process. For some going to bed to sleep is a time to be apprehensive about because they never feel rested. They sleep unsoundly, have difficulties breathing and sometimes even stop breathing more than once times each night. They snore and disturb their partners thus end up effecting their relationships. Work starts to become hurt as they continually lose focus and have the ability to focus. There is some hope though. There are devices and procedures that can finally give them a better quality of sleep and finally overcome their sleep disorders. For additional information go here:

Choosing the right natural sleep aid is critical to anyone who is suffering from insomnia or simply having trouble getting to sleep. Finding the right natural sleep aid can also help make sure a person also gets the right type of sleep needed at the correct time of day.

Sleep is critical to human survival and people suffering from lack of sleep may end up with several problems/symptoms that are listed below;-

-Aching muscles

-Blurred vision

-Cardiovascular disease

-Dizziness

-Hand tremors

-Clinical depression

-Daytime drowsiness and naps

-Decreased mental activity and concentration

-Depersonalization

-Weakened immune system

-Headaches

-General confusion

These are the most common symptoms from lack of sleep and there are many serious more serious predicaments that can befall someone who isn’t properly rested or fall into what is commonly called “sleep debt”. It is now known that a large amount of sleep debt has only increased with the industrialisation of the West. In one drastic realization shift work particular night shift work was in December 2007 listed by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a “probable” cause of cancer.

Finding the right sleep aid is therefore extremely important. The key component of most natural remedies for insomnia is melatonin which is a hormone found in all living creatures from algae to humans at levels that vary in the daily cycle. Melatonin is a natural compound produced by the body to convey message that it is night and the body needs to rest. Melatonin is vital to producing a sleep effect on the brain. Adults who don’t have enough melatonin can have trouble falling asleep as their body cannot tell the difference between night and day. The perfect way to help strengthen the bodies own biological clock and restore the natural sleep cycle is to use a supplement containing melatonin.

This is the critical bit as I have stated most herbal sleeping aids contain melatonin. The problem is that most of these natural sleep aids contain three to ten times the amount of melatonin that is actually needed.

The levels of melatonin are critical to the success of any natural sleep aid. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) undertook clinical trials which concluded large doses of melatonin proved counter productive and can actually hinder getting the right type of sleep and at the correct time.

In the United States since 1993 melatonin has been used in supplements and has been widley accepted and met with good consumer confidence and ethusiasm. Melatonin has also been found to be a wonderful ant-oxidant (gets rid of harmful free radicals within the body) and also to help stimulate the immune system.

As a natural compound already produced by the body then any daily supplement containing melatonin is only going to augment the bodies’ natural levels and prove of benefit to the person taking the supplement. It has no side-effects as long as the person is aware of the melatonin levels in the supplement and is not over dosing.

In conclusion if a person feels that they are on a daily basis feeling physically and mentally fatigued and believe it to be through the lack of a good night sleep which is actually more common then you would think. Here I have listed some finding from 2007 survey of the National Sleep Foundation:-

-Approximately 74% of all Americans do no get enough sleep overnight

-53% of adults say they struggle sleeping at least a small number of nights each week

-Almost 33% has trouble sleeping every night

The article discusses the condition of apnea patient, William Chapman. It goes on to examine how a chronic apnea sufferer could get relief from modern treatment methods.

A sleep lab patient, Pasadena resident William H. Chapman, was tested after his wife wrote his doctor to express concern about his restless sleep. Chapman, 61, has been a heavy snorer for decades.

“The descriptions of my snoring went from something like a growling bear to a machine that was going to knock down the house,” he said. When he and his son went camping in southern Utah last year, his son asked him to sleep in the truck.

He felt bone-tired during the day, what he describes as “30 years struggling against this weariness that you feel perpetually. No alertness. No get-up-and-go.”

Finally, Chapman spent a night at Torrance Memorial, plugged into the polysomnograph. The test results were startling: He was holding his breath as many as 57 times an hour, each time for 10 to 40 seconds. He would wake repeatedly as he held his breath, meaning that he unknowingly was sleeping only four or five hours a night.

A federal report concluded that while 60 million Americans suffer from apnea, narcolepsy and other chronic sleep problems, the majority are undiagnosed and untreated. Despite its pervasiveness and impact upon the society, sleep-related problems are not recognized as a public health issue.

The most common and severe form, called obstructive sleep apnea, features extremely loud snoring interrupted by pauses and gasps. Breathing stops for 10 seconds or longer, sometimes dozens or even hundreds of times each night.

Most frequently, the airway becomes blocked during sleep due to excessive relaxation of throat muscles. In children, sleep apnea is often the result of enlarged tonsils and adenoids.

People with sleep apnea may show signs of anxiety, depression, irritability, forgetfulness and fatigue during the day. Recent studies have found that sleep apnea sufferers have two to five times as many automobile accidents as people in the general population.

Treatment includes weight reduction (most people with severe sleep apnea are overweight); avoiding alcohol within two hours of bedtime and sleeping drugs; surgery to remove excess tissue at the back of the throat or enlarged tonsils and adenoids; use of a special mask that improves flow of air through nasal passages.

Undergoing surgery or sleeping with a mask clamped to your face may seem like extreme measures just to silence snoring. But if you have sleep apnea, those treatments could save your life.

As more and more people find it hard to sleep at night for various reasons, many types of sleep disorder treatments have been invented through the years. Many of these sleep disorder treatments are quite effective and there are also some of them that simply just don’t work at all.

The effectiveness of a certain sleep disorder treatment is usually affected by the state of emotions and the environment of the person who is suffering from insomnia. Thus, before a person does start on a sleep disorder treatment, he or she should make it a point to delve deeper into the cause of his or her insomnia. Understanding the causes if insomnia will make treatment easier.

To find a sleep disorder clinic in your area, ask your doctor or simply search the local yellow pages. Call them up and tell them what’s going on. It could be that they can find the problem simply by talking to you on the phone. For instance, you may not be able to sleep because you abuse cigarettes, drugs or alcohol. However, if the problem seems more serious than that, they may want you to come in for a consultation. Schedule one and let them see you in person. The problem may be bigger than you originally thought.

When you visit a sleep disorder clinic, you will be seen by a sleep specialist. The specialist will want to know what you eat, drink, how you spend your waking time and will ask other questions about your lifestyle. These questions are designed to determine if your lifestyle is the reason of your lack of sleep. Then, if your sleep specialist deems it necessary, they may tell you to take a little nap while they watch.

Natural treatments of insomnia include simple and practical activities that you can do to help you relax before bedtime. A good example of a natural treatment for sleep disorder is a change in lifestyle. For instance, if you are fond of drinking coffee throughout the day and even before bedtime, cut back on that habit. Do not drink coffee or any other types of beverages that has caffeine in it at least three hours before bedtime. Note that caffeine in your blood will keep you awake longer so if you remove the source of caffeine in your blood hours before bedtime, you will have better chances of getting some sleep easily.

Sleep is an important component to our health and well-being. It stands to reason that if sleep is interrupted for any reason, that our life will be affected as well. Sleep deprivation can affect us in negative ways physically, mentally and emotionally. Because of this, it is important to pinpoint the facts about insomnia, so that the problem can be treated as quickly and effectively as possible. However, in order to treat insomnia issues properly, it is important to understand what the different types of insomnia are and exactly why they occur in the first place.

Finding an effective treatment of insomnia is very important especially if you have been losing sleep for more than a week. According to experts, losing a lot of sleep can weaken the immune system of our bodies. Once the defense system of our body is weakened, we become prone to different types of illnesses.

To begin with, you need to learn about what insomnia really is and need to find a definition for the condition and you can learn from available facts about insomnia that it means not getting enough sleep, having disturbed sleep as well as being incapable of remaining asleep once you do fall asleep. Thus, it is easy to understand that insomnia creates a very disturbing situation for the affected person and when sleep is deprived, there is a sense of extreme fatigue as a consequence of it.

When picking out the type of treatment of insomnia, consider the effects of this treatment to your body. Do not just opt for a sleeping pill right away. Yes, taking that pill will be easier but that may not be the best that you can do. Always remember that treating a disorder with drugs is not always favorable. If you can find some natural ways to treat you insomnia, why not take that option instead? A natural treatment of insomnia does have a lot of advantages over those drugs. For one thing, natural treatment processes do not have side effects and they cost even lesser compared to those drugs.

Finally, you must learn from available facts about insomnia what the best treatments are for insomnia, and in this regard, when the condition is secondary insomnia, the treatment recommended is removing the base cause of insomnia, which means if coffee drinking is the cause of insomnia, then the affected person must need giving up on drinking coffee to get over the condition. However, in case of primary insomnia, the condition could be due to serious illness or even an emotional problem, which would require treatment that takes into account proper diet as well as physical and emotional regimens that will help provide relief.

If that much-needed sleep has eluded you and you find yourself tossing around in bed unable to sleep soundly, then you might want to consider using natural sleeping aids.

Some people are scared of sleeping pills and their negative effects. It is not recommended to take sleeping pills for long term as you can get addicted to it and unable to sleep without it in future. So going natural would seem the best option.

Load up with amino acids contained in a warm glass of milk can help you sleep better. This is what mothers usually give to their babies and it will definitely work even for adults.

The soothing effect of chamomile tea is also an alternative for milk while other herbs and essential oils such as valerian, lavender and rose help calm the mind and soothe the senses by producing endorphin and serotonin considered as relaxing hormones.

Try not to eat or have just a light snack before going to sleep. A very full stomach, although very tempting to sleep with one, can cause indigestion and may interfere with a sound sleep.

Drinks that contain caffeine, eating chocolates and smoking are never to be taken if you want to get that slumber. You can also try to exercise during the late afternoon or evening. It can help relieve stress and help your body relax at night, which is the same effect if you would take a hot shower before hitting the pillows.

Prepare a room conducive for sleep by dimming the lights, lighting aroma therapy candles, and changing fresh sheets. Soft music can also help ease your mind.

Herbal sleeping pills are now available on the market and these can help you sleep better through a mix blend of minerals and natural herbs. These have no side effects and they help induce sleep at night.

If you are looking for the best natural sleeping aid, i recommend Melatrol, a herbal sleeping pill. Learn how melatrol, a natural sleeping aid can help you get rid of insomnia and sleep better at night.
